The UCI Mountain Bike World Championships took place over a week in scenic Pal Arinsal, Andorra. The short track XCC race on Friday 30 August 2024 was fiercely combative and a furious ride with the top u23 riders in the world battling it out on a stellar course. Luke gave it everything he had and proved that the hard work, rehabilitation, and training he has put in since his injury at the start of the year paid off. An awesome P7 gave him a top 10 finish.
An extended lightning storm was predicted for Sunday afternoon, forcing last minute changes to the race schedule. The cyclists took this upset in their stride and faced the shortened course with determination. Luke stuck the course, pushed hard, and fought off several attacks during an intense five laps. Grit and determination saw him take an incredible P9 finish in what was a race to be remembered. Two top ten finishes at the 2024 World Mountain Bike Championships – that’s a win in anyone’s book!
