Fun for a cause

On 30 October 2021, DotModus’ Sales Director, Matthew Chittenden joined 11 other cyclists to ride the Cow and Belle challenge as part of #TeamJolene. Stretching 180 km through the beautiful Cradle of Humankind, the cyclists had one motivation in common: to raise money for the Childhood Cancer Foundation SA (CHOC). This was Matthew’s second year in a row to participate in this fundraising initiative. In total, they raised R138 000, or 139% of their goal, which is 4 times more than last year, at R33,850!

CHOC is a non-profit organisation in aid of children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer and life-threatening blood disorders. Founded in 1977, the organisation offers a large array of support programmes, ranging from awareness and education about cancer, to providing accommodation and emotional support for CHOC beneficiaries and their families.

Being able to offer this level of support and care is only made possible through corporate sponsorship, individual donations, and fundraising activities such as organised through groups such as the CHOC Cows, a group of people on a mission to make a difference to children with cancer and their families.

Their energy is infectious and with the motto “Love Living Life”, the CHOC Cows guarantee plenty of FUN in their FUNdraising activities. The CHOC Cows raise substantial and much needed funds that go towards services and projects like:

  • The Psychosocial support programme in paediatric haematology oncology units around the country
  • CHOC accommodation facilities
  • Transport Funds and the purchase of programme vehicles
  • Parent, child and family support programmes
